WHY MAKING IN EDUCATION?

Making in the classroom provides students:

  • Stimulating, engaging, meaningful projects and activities.

  • Integrated STEAM experiences in core and non-core curriculum.

  • Collaborative and expressive group communication.

  • Creative, confidence-building challenges.

  • Opportunities to question and use higher-order thinking skills.

  • A chance to tinker, design, construct, assess, and revise.

  • A safe setting for invention, exploration, and perseverance.

  • Opportunities to HAVE FUN while learning.

As teachers we have the responsibility to nurture the innate curiosity and creativity in our students.  Bringing Making opportunities into core curriculum, as well as offering stand-alone Maker classes, is the perfect way to accomplish this.
